The end of each year is a natural time of reflection and pause. And at this time, businesses all around the world are facing unprecedented pressure and daunting challenges. Industry titans are collapsing all around us.
In light of these developments, we wanted to provide our readers with a bit of comic relief, as well as a motivational message. We bring you a brief satirical article entitled ““Dying Newspaper Trend Buys National Newspapers Three More Weeks,” which originally appeared in ‘The Onion’ earlier this year. The insightful spoof describes the newspaper industry being able to briefly delay its own demise by printing a multitude of stories on its own death. As such, it is a witty commentary on the current hardships and need for change of all businesses and industries.
And naturally it leads us to the question: How can a company or industry proactively avoid its own demise, instead of just reporting or commenting on it?
May we suggest applying Blue Ocean Strategy? BOS allows you to simultaneously create differentiation and cut costs. Isn’t that exactly what such challenging times call for?
