The recent annual NARTA conference in Maui was cause for those representing the Australian consumer electronics market to get all charged up. NARTA (National Associated Retail Traders of Australia) is Australia’s consumer electronics group, and its members consist of leading Australian retailers in the industry. Among event participants were also executives from well-known brands such as LG, Sharp, Electrolux, Sony and Hitachi.
According to Narta managing director Kay Spencer
The conference in Maui is the opportunity to define an identifiable future for our joint businesses…how we can respond to difficult situations with steadfast determination, maintaining the rules of engagement, meeting objectives (and a sense of humour).
NARTA conference speakers came from a medley of backgrounds. Sir Ken Robinson and Mick Fleetwood (of Fleetwood Mack fame) looked at the role of innovation and creativity in business. Retired Australian general, Peter Cosgrove, discussed maintaining steadfast determination and the rules of engagement. While Gabor George Burt of creatingblueoceans.com and the Blue Ocean Strategy Network led conference participants through the principles of Blue Ocean Strategy and how to create uncontested market spaces which make the competition irrelevant.
